Daily routine often brings rush, tiredness and worries that end up weighing on the atmosphere at home. Between household chores, work and the constant flow of news, finding a moment of real silence, togetherness and renewed feeling has become a vital need for a family's emotional health.
It is with this purpose of welcome that the practice of Evangelho no Lar (the Gospel at Home) exists. Far from being a rigid or complicated ritual, it is a simple weekly gathering of about fifteen to twenty minutes to read a comforting message, pray for loved ones and renew the energies of the home.
On Mundo a Passeio group trips, many travellers share moving accounts of how this practice has brought peace and lightness to their lives, making everyday life more affectionate and understanding.
Step by step: how to hold Evangelho no Lar
No special preparation is needed to begin Evangelho no Lar. All it takes is goodwill, respect and a sincere wish for peace. Here is how to lead it:
- 1. Choose a fixed day and time: Set a day of the week and a time that suit those who will take part. Punctuality and consistency help build a healthy commitment to this moment of reflection. The gathering can be held with the family or individually.
- 2. Pure water for fluidification: If you wish, place a jug or glasses of filtered water on the table. During the prayer, the good spirits and divine providence are asked to place in it wholesome elements of peace and well-being for body and mind.
- 3. Opening prayer: A simple, spontaneous prayer said from the heart, or a classic prayer such as the Our Father, giving thanks for the week and asking for serenity for the home.
- 4. Reading from the Gospel: A page is opened at random, or the reading follows "O Evangelho Segundo o Espiritismo" (The Gospel According to Spiritism) in sequence (or another uplifting work). A short passage is read calmly and attentively.
- 5. Brief fraternal reflection: Anyone who wishes may comment briefly on the message read, relating it to the daily lessons of patience, forgiveness and charity. It is essential that this moment is one of mutual acceptance, avoiding hints, reproaches or family arguments.
- 6. Closing prayer: A final prayer giving thanks for the opportunity to learn, asking for peace for relatives, friends, the sick and the world, with the fluidified water shared at the end.
What to avoid during the gathering
Evangelho no Lar has a strictly moral and peacemaking purpose. For this reason, no mediumistic manifestations, passes or mystical rituals are carried out at home: these activities of spiritual care belong in the prepared and supervised setting of Spiritist centres. The aim at home is solely to cultivate love, forgiveness and fraternity among those who live under the same roof.
The peace we carry into life and into our trips
Those who cultivate harmony in the heart travel with a different outlook. Our travellers know that the road is a place to make friends, practise patience and marvel at the beauty of the world.
